Shanaya (Name changed) was not seeking therapy for the first time. She had been to me before for her Thyroid issues which we could address successfully, as her doctor stopped her thyroid medication after the reports came normal post Hypnotherapy sessions.
This time she was all the more optimistic that Hypnotherapy will help her again now that she is wanting to resolve her Endometriosis (a disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus). That optimism for sure was an added bonus for us as whatever we believe in happens and she came with a strong belief that her endometriosis will get resolved with Hypnotherapy just like her thyroid issue did.
As I started taking history, she mentioned that apart from disagreements with her mom regarding how she should groom herself better there was nothing else that really bothered her emotionally. The endometriosis history was classical with nagging pain and irregular periods and the gynecologist’s reports were in front of me announcing the diagnosis.
We got started with therapy and she was to examine her own uterus in a hypnotic trance. She reported seeing some extra brown mass there and said she feels a nagging pain on touching it.
When the reason for the same was unraveled, her 4 year old younger self walked in the room crying because the mother was nagging all the time regarding how she should look pretty, dress well etc. As this 4 year was healed there were more of her younger parts with the same theme of mom nagging her saying she does not look presentable as a female, to an extent that the younger self starting hating being a woman. Her constant thought was that if she was not a female, none of this nagging would happen. Her mom would have let her be, she would not have to dress up or do up her hair so painstakingly every time she has to step out of the house or was expecting guests at home. The resentment towards mom had eventually turned into resentment for being a woman and hence at a very subconscious level everything about her that represented femininity she had started rejecting it, the uterus being the latest victim of her rejection of her own femininity. The reason was clear and all the younger selves were healed, resentment towards mom was dealt with and she got the wisdom that mom’s nagging wasn’t there for her to reject her own self, it was there for her to learn that even if others don’t accept her the way she is, she still needs to accept her own self unconditionally. It was a breakthrough for her but I did not want to assume that this would be the only reason of her endometriosis so we did other processes like talking to the higher self and ruled out any other reasons for her issue, gave her positive suggestions to hear, taught her a self-healing “submarine technique” to heal her own uterus in further sessions.
I can gladly share that within a few weeks after the sessions her pain disappeared and the periods got normal. She was so convinced about Hypnotherapy working again for her that she refused to visit the gynecologist for re-examination even though the allopath in me advised her to do so, while the hypnotherapist in me smiled with gratitude again.
Even after two decades of being in this field, I still continue to get fascinated by the ways of the mind and its ability to heal us.
